Myanmar exported 333,367 tonnes of rubber in the past financial year 2025-2026 (1 April- 31 March), bagging over $519.8 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
China is the leading buyer of Myanmar rubber, accounting for 75 per cent of Myanmar’s rubber export. Moreover, Myanmar’s rubber is also delivered to Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India and Japan. Myanmar conveys 90 per cent of its rubber output to foreign countries, while domestic demand by SME accounts for only ten per cent.
Myanmar’s rubber is commonly grown in Mon and Kayin states and Taninthayi Region. It can be found in Bago, Ayeyawady and Yangon regions and Shan and Kachin states. There are 1.64 million acres of rubber across the country, with 1.065 million acres used for rubber tapping in the 2025-2026 FY. Rubber output last FY exceeded 350,000 tonnes. — NN/KK
